SUMEDANG - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Sumedang, West Java, has revived the Rancakalong Geotheater as a cultural center through the Kasumedang Cultural Ecosystem held in Sumedang, Saturday.

Sumedang Regent Dony Ahmad Munir emphasized that the event was not just a show, but also a real step to revive the Rancakalong Geotheater as a center for cultural arts activities in his area.

"This is realizing a commitment to bring the Rancakalong Geotheater to life for us to study, stage, and practice arts and culture," he said.

The show in Geotheater is planned to be held regularly every Saturday and open to the general public.

In this event, various arts were performed with great fanfare, ranging from Kalinan barudak, flying, tarawangsa dance, to NGUBAR (Ngulik Together Gamelan) activities. This diversity shows the richness of local culture which continues to be maintained by art actors.

Regent Dony also revealed that his party plans to make Geotheater the center of cultural arts in Sumedang Regency and plans to improve facilities and infrastructure, including widening road access and adding about 20 public lighting points.

"Later, the road to here will be widened and the public lights will be added to 20 units," he said.

He called cultural arts not only spectacle, but also guidance for the community. Therefore, he invites all citizens to continue to maintain, care for, and preserve Sumedang cultural heritage from generation to generation.
