KGPH Hangabehi Officially Named Paku Buwono XIV

KGPH Hangabehi was officially named Paku Buwono XIV in the Rembug of the Surakarta Palace extended family, replacing the late PB XIII

SOLO - Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Haryo (KGPH) Hangabeh was officially appointed as the successor to the throne of the King of the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace with the title Paku Buwono (PB) XIV, through the Large Family Rembug of the Surakarta Palace which was held at Sasana Handrawina, the Surakarta Palace complex, Thursday, November 13.

The eldest son of the late PB XIII was reluctant to talk much about his plans for a meritorious ceremony. He only asked for prayers and support so that the Surakarta Palace could run better in the future.

"Just wait, I haven't rested since morning. Please pray and support, later there will be an official notification from the palace," said KGPH Hangabeh after being named PB XIV.

When asked about the next steps after officially rising the throne, KGPH Hangabeh emphasized that all of his policies would be focused on the continuity and progress of the Surakarta Palace.

"The steps are for the palace. There is nothing else, all for the survival of the palace," he said.

Regarding the process of appointing him as PB XIV, Hangabeh asked the media to wait for an official statement from Maha Minister of the Kanjeng Palace Gusti Panembahan Agung (KGPA) Tedjowulan. He was also reluctant to respond to the issue of dualism of the king of the Surakarta Palace which had surfaced.

"Please go to Panembahan Agung Tedjowulan for other questions. I can't answer the question of dualism either. Please be patient and keep praying for the palace to run well," he said.

When asked about the relationship with his youngest brother, KGPH Purboyo (KGPAA Hamengkunegoro), Hangabehi admitted that he had not had time to communicate. "There is no communication yet, but we will definitely communicate later," he said.

Previously, the Rembug of the Surakarta Hadiningrat Kasunanan Palace Family appointed KGPH Hangabeh as the successor to the throne with the PB XIV. The meeting was chaired by Maha Minister of KGPA Tedjowulan and attended by around 90 invitations, including the sons and daughters of the late PB XII, Sentono Dalem, Abdi Dalem, and representatives of Pokoso.

The sister of the late PB XIII, GRay Koes Murtiyah Wandansari (Gusti Moeng) said this meeting was aimed at uniting a big family and preserving the Surakarta Palace.

"This meeting is to unite the family and preserve the palace. All agreed to crown KGPH Hangabehi as PB XIV," said Gusti Moeng.
