JAKARTA - The Kompas Research and Development Survey released the latest results regarding the level of public trust in the National Police institution. As a result, the National Police received a level of public trust of 76.2 percent.

The results of the research conducted in October fall into the category of very believing and believing. This figure rose after the riots in August 2025.

"The survey noted that there was an increase or recovery in public confidence in the Bhayangkara Corps," the survey said.

Litbang Kompas stated that the increase in positive image and level of public satisfaction showed post-crisis strategic communication management at the National Police institution towards a positive direction in the eyes of the public.

The National Police's efforts to show openness to external evaluations, rapid handling of victims and families of riot victims, as well as transparency of information, ultimately helped restore public trust.

In this case, the formation of a reform team serves as a bridge between the public's desire and the institution's ability to improve in a much better direction.

Litbang Kompas also noted that this increase in trust was in line with the increasing public satisfaction with the performance of the National Police, which is now at 65.1 percent.

Improvement of services has become the most felt factor for the community in the last two months. The survey recorded an average service score of 7.76, including a high value on the friendliness of officers (7.74) and an attitude of not discriminating economic background during service (7.74).

The public also gave great appreciation for the principle of non-discrimination, with the police considered not to discriminate between religion and document management which recorded a score of 8.26. On the other hand, the police are considered to be more concerned with the confidentiality of personal data during the service process with a score of 8.23.

The ease of managing administrative documents got a score of 7.73, while the speed with which the report was handled was at 7.70. The value of 7.56 at a sense of security when dealing with the police further strengthens public perceptions of improvements in direct interactions in the field.

The transparency aspect also improved, such as the explanation of the stages of handling cases (7.64) and the completion of the report which was considered complete (7.59). Although the ease of monitoring the progress of the report (7.28) and the speed of response to the complaint (7.30) still need to be increased, the direction of change as a whole is considered positive.

Litbang Kompas said that in the future, the Police Internal Reform Team or the Commission for the Acceleration of Police Reform must be able to exceed its symbolic function and become the main motor for institutional transformation.

The survey was conducted on October 9-16, 2025, against 1,200 respondents in 38 provinces through face-to-face interviews using the multistage random sampling method and a margin of error of buh2.83 percent.
