Prabowo Promises Bright Village, Mendes Yandri Makes Sure There Are No More Ends Of The Country Without Electricity

JAKARTA - Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT) Yandri Susanto stated that the government targets all villages in Indonesia to be electrified during the reign of President Prabowo Subianto.

"We have discussed it at a cabinet meeting, God willing, in the period Mr. President Prabowo there will be no more villages that do not yet have electricity," Yandri said in a working meeting with Commission V DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, November 12.

According to Yandri, the availability of electricity is the main indicator of equitable village development. Therefore, the PDT Village Ministry continues to coordinate with other ministries and institutions to accelerate the electrification of rural areas, especially in disadvantaged and remote areas.

In addition to electricity, the government is also targeting the expansion of the village internet network through cooperation between the Ministry of Villages PDT and the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi). This effort, said Yandri, was carried out to encourage digital transformation and a local potential-based economy.

"We have signed an MoU with Komdigi to ensure the signal and internet network enter the village. The priority is tourist villages, exports, and those with great economic potential," he said.

Furthermore, Yandri emphasized that village development cannot be carried out sectorally. He encourages cross-ministerial and local governments to ensure that basic infrastructure such as electricity, clean water, and education can be enjoyed by all village communities.

Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia said a number of electricity projects entering the village had begun to be inaugurated. As directed by the President, all programs are targeted to be completed in the 2029 '2030 period, covering 5,700 villages and 4,400 hamlets throughout Indonesia.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is also targeting the construction of electricity infrastructure in 1,285 villages by the end of 2025, in order to expand the distribution of access to electricity by PT PLN (Persero) in remote areas of the country.

Bahlil menegaskan, akses listrik adalah hak setiap warga negara, dan pemerintah bersama PLN berkomitmen memastikan seluruh rakyat Indonesia menikmati penerangan merata hingga tahun 2030.

Bahlil emphasized that access to electricity is the right of every citizen, and the government together with PLN are committed to ensuring that all Indonesian people enjoy equal lighting until 2030.
