JAKARTA - The Garut Police have deployed a team to determine the identity and cause of death of a decomposing body found in a hut in Cibatu District, Garut Regency, West Java.

"We are still investigating," said the Head of the Garut Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Joko Prihatin, when contacted by cell phone in Garut on Monday, as reported by Antara.

He explained that police had conducted a series of crime scene investigations and interviewed several witnesses for the investigation at the location where the body was found in Salagedang Hamlet, Cibatu Village/District, on Friday, November 7.

He said that the crime scene investigation revealed that the body was male and its identity has not yet been determined. Police suspect the victim committed suicide, although the investigation is continuing.

"The identity is not yet known, it's Mr. X," he said.

He explained that the discovery of the body was first discovered by local residents who smelled a foul odor coming from the direction of the hut, which had not been used by residents.

A foul odor emanated from the area, prompting residents to investigate and discover a decomposing body hanging from a rope.

The body was nearly decomposed by police, and was taken to Dr. Slamet Garut Regional General Hospital (RSUD) for further examination.

The victim was found wearing a black t-shirt and black pants, and still had his shoes on.
