JAKARTA - The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the Situbondo Police, East Java, has arrested a narcotics and dangerous drug dealer based on information from the public.

"This case is the result of an investigation by the Narcotics Investigation Unit team after receiving information from the public regarding methamphetamine distribution activity," said First Inspector Tatang Purwohadi, Head of the Situbondo Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, in Situbondo on Sunday.
He stated that the suspected methamphetamine dealer was arrested by police at a stall in Jeruk Hamlet, Ketah Village, Suboh District. Police confiscated several packages of methamphetamine ready for distribution, totaling 5.75 grams.
Police confiscated 16 plastic bags containing methamphetamine weighing a total of 5.75 grams from the suspect, a cell phone, a small white wallet, cash, and a motorcycle suspected of being used for the transactions.
"We have secured the suspect along with evidence, including several packages of methamphetamine ready for distribution. Based on the investigation, the methamphetamine was obtained from someone from Madura Island," he said.
First Inspector Tatang told investigators that the suspect confessed to selling methamphetamine to buyers in and around Suboh.
"We are still investigating to uncover the network. All evidence has been secured and will be sent to the East Java Regional Police Forensic Laboratory for further investigation," he said.
According to Tatang, the suspect is charged under Article 114 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
Situbondo Police Chief, AKBP Rezi Dharmawan, commended the Narcotics Unit's efforts to eradicate drug trafficking in the region.
"We will not give any room to drug dealers or users in Situbondo. The National Police remains committed to protecting the younger generation from the dangers of drugs," he said.
