Affirming Relations With Jokowi, Prabowo Is Considered To Want To Maintain Political Stability

JAKARTA A political researcher from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Wasisto Raharjo Jati, believes that President Prabowo Subianto's statement regarding his relationship with the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) showed efforts to maintain political stability at the beginning of his reign.

"President Prabowo's statement which confirms that he is not controlled and is not afraid of Jokowi's influence is part of his strategy to reduce noise in public spaces," he said, Sunday, November 9.

According to him, although Prabowo seems to often defend Jokowi in a number of issues, including related to thefeedingsh high-speed rail project, this dynamic does not necessarily show Jokowi's political dominance in the new government.

Because, the main focus of President Prabowo at this time is maintaining stability and political harmony. What President Prabowo focuses on is political stability and harmony. The two are interrelated, so that if one of them is disrupted it will have an impact on others," added Wasisto.

He also stated that the issues that brought Jokowi's name back in the public sphere would not interfere with the consolidation of coalitions supporting the government or the map of political power in the DPR. "I don't think it has reached the coalition because the commotion regarding the former President Jokowi is more about social stability," he said.

Previously, when giving a speech at the inauguration of the Lotte Chemical Indonesia (LCI) Factory in Cilegon, Banten, last Thursday, November 6, President Prabowo Subianto alluded to his relationship with Jokowi so far. The President emphasized that this relationship was built on the basis of mutual respect, not out of fear or political control.
