TANJUNGPINANG - Representative of the Riau Islands Province Ombudsman (Kepri) has successfully completed 190 reports, out of a total of 800 public complaint reports during the period January to October 2025.
"The 180 reports have been upgraded to public reports, and an initial investigation has been carried out until maladministration was found," said Head of the Riau Islands Ombudsman Lagat Siadari when contacted in Tanjungpinang, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, November 8.
Lagat said that the public complaint reports handled by the Riau Islands Ombudsman this year are still dominated by land or agrarian maladministration problems, including public complaints about land services at the Batam Concession Agency (BP), then at the National Land Agency (BPN) of Bintan Regency, Karimun Regency and Tanjungpinang City.
In addition, he said, there were also reports of complaints against public services in the police and population administration.
"In terms of land problems, usually around overlapping and land registration, for example one land parcel wants to be broken into five certificates, that is still an obstacle for the community," said Lagat.

He emphasized that regarding the public reports that were proven to be maladministration, the Riau Islands Ombudsman had provided recommendations for improvement suggestions and had to be followed up by public service agencies or institutions.
Lagat also highlighted that one of the maladministration that has not been followed up until now is related to the cancellation of the graduation of one of the government employees with a work agreement (P3K), education staff at an educational unit in Tanjungpinang City.
The Riau Islands Ombudsman found maladministration in the process of inauguration the first aid kit, because the person concerned did not meet the formal requirements to be inaugurated.
"Even though he won the first aid selection, he chose the wrong formation. It's the same as choosing the wrong job vacancy, but still being inaugurated," said Lagat.
Lagat claimed to have summoned the Mayor of Tanjungpinang as well as reminded him to make efforts to cancel the graduation of the tendik employee.
"The mayor must want it, because there are no Ombudsman recommendations that have not been implemented. If they still don't want to, the Minister of Home Affairs will summon the mayor," Lagat emphasized.
