Police Hunt For Motorcycle Thieves Who Shooted Hansip To Death In Cakung

JAKARTA - Police are hunting for the perpetrator of the motorcycle theft who shot a Civil Defense officer (Hansip) to death in West Cakung, East Jakarta, on Saturday morning.

"We are pursuing the perpetrator, still investigating," said Head of the East Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) AKBP Dicky Fertoffan, quoted by Antara, in Jakarta, Saturday, November 8.

This incident occurred at around 03.30 WIB in Kampung Baru, Jalan Pelajar RT 07/RW 09, Cakung Barat Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta.

The victim, namely AS (42) is a resident of Sukapura Village, Cilincing District, who works as a casual daily laborer while helping with environmental security activities as Hansip in RW 09.

The US died with a gunshot wound to the left abdomen while trying to thwart the theft of the motorcycle.

The Cakung Police Chief, Kompol Widodo Saputro, said that his party conducted further investigations of the crime scene (TKP) and investigations at the scene, including the collection of evidence and traces of the perpetrators.

From the results of the interim investigation, it is suspected that the perpetrators numbered two people and used homemade firearms.

"We are still conducting an investigation to identify and pursue the perpetrators. The team has collected a number of clues from witness statements and CCTV footage around the location," said Widodo.

At the time of the incident, the victim was on night guard with two of his colleagues, T (48) and R (58).

According to witness testimony, the incident began when the victim who was monitoring CCTV saw two suspicious people around the residential area. Both are suspected of wanting to pry out a motorbike parked on the side of the road.

"The victim was carrying out night patrols as an hansip RW 09. The victim was monitoring the surveillance camera (CCTV) at that time, seeing that two people were suspected of prying the motorbike," he said.

Seeing this, the victim and two of his colleagues immediately moved to the location using a motorcycle numbered B 4244 UEE driven by the victim.

Arriving at the location, the victim immediately hit his motorbike at the perpetrator's vehicle to prevent the two of them from running away until a fight broke out.

Then there were two gunshots that made the victim fall. The two witnesses immediately asked residents for help to see the condition of the victim.

"Then there were two gunshots. The victim immediately fell, witness 1 and witness 2 then secured themselves and asked residents for help," said Widodo.

The police appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report if they saw suspicious activity in the surrounding environment.
