Batang Regency Government Waits For Lab Test Results For Toxic Cases Of 800 Students After Eating MBG

The Batang Regency Government is still waiting for the results of laboratory tests related to the poisoning case of 800 students from SMK Kandeman and Watesalit Elementary School who are suspected of being caused by the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) menu, recently.

Batang Regent Faiz Kurniawan ensured that MBG program services continued to run safely and according to standards.

"Currently we are still waiting for the results of laboratory tests. Both are currently going through a laboratory test process. If the results are proven to be sourced from inappropriate foods, we will write to the National Nutrition Agency to conduct a review and audit of the associated SPPG permit," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 6.

During a review of the implementation of the MBG program at SDN 1 Pandansari, Warungasem District, he said, the implementing unit (SPPG) suspected of being involved in the poisoning case hit students, has now been temporarily disabled.

Local governments ensure that MBG services continue to run safely and according to standards.

"We make sure there are no more poisoning incidents in the area. If there is one evidence of food from the SPPG, we will ask for the operational permit to be revoked," he said.

His party will instruct the Education Office to establish a new standard operating procedure (SOP) related to the evaluation of the MBG program menu in schools.

Later, he said, every school is required to create a communication group between the school, parents, and food providers.

"Later on, there will be two reviews, namely from children and from parents. SPPG needs to know what children like, what they don't, and what might lead to food intolerance," he said.

He hopes that through this mechanism, the implementation of the MBG program can be more transparent and adaptive to the nutritional needs of children.

"We want this good program to run optimally, provide real benefits, and calm parents that the food they receive is really safe and nutritious," he said.
