Jakarta Workers Who Earn a Maximum Salary of IDR 6.2 Million Can Get a Free Public Transportation Card

JAKARTA - The Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, revealed that Jakarta workers with salaries up to 1.15 times the provincial minimum wage (UMP) can receive free public transportation cards.

Based on this calculation, the maximum salary limit for workers eligible for free public transportation, based on this year's UMP, is IDR 6,206,275 (IDR 6.2 million). They are included in the 15 categories of people eligible for free public transportation.

However, before receiving free Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta services, private sector employees must have a Jakarta Worker Card (KPJ). The KPJ is an assistance program from the Jakarta Provincial Government to support the welfare of low-income workers residing or working in the Jakarta area.

"Those categorized as private sector employees are those holding a Jakarta Worker Card with a salary of 1.15 times the UMP," Syafrin told reporters on Thursday, November 6.

The free public transportation card program for Jakarta Worker Card holders is stipulated in Jakarta Governor Regulation (Pergub) Number 33 of 2025 concerning the Provision of Free Mass Public Transportation Services.

Under this regulation, Jakarta workers earning a maximum salary of Rp 6.2 million this year must also submit administrative documents as requirements to receive the free public transportation card.

These include:

- photocopy of Jakarta Provincial Identity Card

- active employment certificate

- photocopy of Jakarta Worker Card

- income certificate

- recent photo

Furthermore, applications for free mass public transportation services for private sector employees are made through the business entity.

Furthermore, Syafrin stated that data on Jakarta workers' free public transportation card ownership will be updated every six months.

"The free public transportation card is valid for as long as the worker is registered as a Jakarta Worker Card holder, but data updates are carried out every six months to ensure the subsidy is effectively targeted," Syafrin explained.

For your information, the groups eligible for free public transportation cards include Jakarta Provincial Government civil servants, retired civil servants, Jakarta Provincial Government contract workers, students receiving the KJP Plus (KJP Plus) card, low-cost apartment residents, the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) Team, and employees earning a salary equivalent to the minimum wage (UMP).

Residents with a Thousand Islands ID card, recipients of subsidized rice (raskin) living in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek), members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI)/Polri (Polri), Indonesian veterans, people with disabilities, seniors over 60, house of worship administrators, early childhood education educators, and community health workers (jumantik), youth organization administrators, dasawisma (village-based community service), and integrated health post (posyandu) cadres.
