PSMTI Prepares National Chinese New Year 2026, Asks For Support From The Minister Of Culture

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Chinese Marga Social Association (PSMTI) met with the Minister of Culture Fadli Zon at the Ministry of Culture Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 4, to discuss collaboration in preserving Chinese culture as well as preparing for the 2026 National Chinese New Year.

PSMTI General Chair, Wilianto Tanta, said that the Chinese New Year must be a space for togetherness for the entire community, not an exclusive celebration. "We want to unite the entire Chinese clan in a spirit of brotherhood. Chinese New Year in Banteng Square will embrace all groups," he said. The event was planned to be attended by President Prabowo Subianto.

PSMTI emphasizes Chinese New Year as a cultural heritage. Deputy General Chair Hasan Karman emphasized that the Chinese people are 100% Indonesia and have a long record of cultural acculturation. PSMTI is ready to be a reference for Chinese cultural information and its contribution to the nation," Hasan said.

Menbud Fadli Zon appreciates PSMTI's work, which now has networks of up to 37 provinces and 308 regencies/cities. He said cultural collaboration must be further strengthened, including through Public Private Partnership. "We are ready to facilitate National Chinese New Year celebrations and other strategic collaborations that strengthen unity," he said.

In this meeting, a follow-up program for the Confucion Exhibition at the National Museum was also discussed as well as plans to establish an Indonesian Cultural House in China as strengthening cultural relations between the two countries.

The Ministry of Culture affirms its commitment to open space for cross-ethnic collaboration, so that the cultural contribution of the Chinese people continues to enrich Indonesia, which is united in diversity.
