Not Wanting To Miss Another Flood, Governor Pramono Alerts 1,187 Pumps In Jakarta

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) together with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) are starting early anticipation steps to deal with the threat of hydrometeorological disasters. BMKG Predictions And Limpasan Threats

Based on the predictions of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), rainfall in Jakarta will increase significantly starting this November. Pramono emphasized that preparations from an early age were crucial so that handling was not delayed, reflecting on past incidents.

Pramono reminded that the position of Jakarta, which is RUN by 13 rivers and in the lowlands, makes it vulnerable. Threats not only come from local rainfall, but also runoff from buffer areas.

"The loss from the Bogor, Depok, and Puncak areas is estimated to increase significantly with the potential for rainfall above 500 mm per month. In addition, the phenomenon of maximum tide of sea water which coincides with the full moon and perige phase has the potential to cause tidal flooding in the northern coastal area of Jakarta," he said.

Technical Steps: Dredging To Weather Modification
