JAKARTA - The British Transport Police confirmed that the stabbing incident that occurred on a train in eastern England was not categorized as an act of terrorism.

"At this stage, there are no indications that this incident is terrorism-related," said Inspector John Loveless at a press conference in London on Sunday.

Two suspects have been arrested on Saturday (1 November) after the stabbing took place on a train bound for the city of Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, eastern England.

The two perpetrators who are now detained are 32-year-old men, British blacks, and 35-year-old men of Caribbean descent. Both are suspected of being involved in attempted murder.

A total of 11 people were reportedly injured in the incident. Ten victims were immediately taken to hospital after the attack, while another person received medical treatment later.

Two victims are still in critical condition, while four others have been discharged after undergoing treatment.

Earlier, the British Transportation Police said 10 people were injured in a stabbing attack by an unknown perpetrator on a train that crossed the Cambridgeshire area.

"Tten people have been taken to hospital after repeated stabbings on the Cambridgeshire train. Nine people are believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries. Large incidents have been declared," the police said in a statement on platform X.

The police had involved the anti-terrorism unit in the initial stages of the investigation, but further investigations showed there was no element of terror in the attack.
