JAKARTA - The Indonesian Forest Entrepreneurs Association (APHI) together with the International Tropical Peaklands Center (ITPC) strengthen cooperation in the sustainable management of tropical peatlands in forest areas in an effort to support global climate change mitigation.
APHI General Chair Soewarso in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday, stated that the two institutions agreed to make the management of tropical peatlands in forest areas an important pillar in an effort to achieve the target of Net Sink 2030 Forestry and Other Land Use (FOLU) Indonesia.
Through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) conducted in Jakarta, both parties are committed to strengthening the exchange of knowledge, training, and capacity building for the public, private sector, and local communities in peat management in forest areas.

Meanwhile, Head of the ITPC Interim Secretariat Agus Justianto stated that the collaboration is a synergy between science and the private sector for a common purpose, namely protecting and restoring tropical peatlands in forest areas.
"By sharing knowledge and building shared capacity, we want to turn research into a real result for climate, biodiversity, and society. This partnership reflects the spirit of collective action for our earth," he said.
ITPC, he also said, will provide research and technical support, while APHI will open field access and encourage the implementation of sustainable forest and peatland management practices in the concession area of its members.
