In a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah in Kuwait City on Thursday, Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta emphasized his commitment to increasing bilateral relations in politics-security, economy and social-culture.

"Kuwait is one of Indonesia's important partners in the Gulf area," said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, launching a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday, October 31.

"We are committed to bringing relations between the two countries towards a more strategic partnership, which provides real benefits for the people of Indonesia and Kuwait," he said.

In the political-security field, the two foreign ministers agreed to encourage cooperation between security agencies, including in exchange of information related to terrorism, espionage, and transnational crimes.

Meanwhile, in the economic sector, the two main diplomats of each country agreed to accelerate the completion of the Indonesia 'GCC FTA' negotiations in 2025, intensify interaction between the Chamber of Commerce between the two countries, and expand investment opportunities, including through exploring the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) partnership with Danantara.

Furthermore, the two Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs also agreed to encourage cooperation in the energy sector through the implementation of the 1st Kuwait Energy Forum in Indonesia by the end of 2025.

This meeting also discussed the reopening of direct flights to Indonesia to encourage tourism. As well as opportunities for Indonesian formal workers to meet the needs of the labor market in Kuwait.
