COVID-19 Update As Of May 20: 5.797 New Cases, 218 Deaths Added

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health released additional positive cases of the latest COVID-19 as of today. A total of 95.435 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 5.797 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was found in Indonesia reached 1.758.9898 people and active cases of 88.439 cases", as quoted from the Ministry of Health data, Thursday, May 20.

Cases recovered today increased by 4.969 cases, bringing the total to 1.621.572 people cured. Then, the number of positive confirmation cases that died increased by 218 people and a total of 48.887 people.

The province with the newest cases was in West Java with 1.332 cases and a total of 302.335 cases. Followed by DKI Jakarta which has 895 new cases with a total of 421.354 cases. Central Java has 550 new cases and a total of 192.138 cases. Then, Riau has 421 new cases and a total of 53.117 cases.

The province with the most cured cases today belongs to West Java with an increase of 1.324 cases recovered. Followed by Riau with an increase of 597 cases recovered, Central Java with an increase of 427 cases recovered, and Banten with an increase of 344 cases cured.

There are three provinces that reported no new cases today. The provinces that reported zero new cases were West Sulawesi, Gorontalo, and Papua.

In addition, the number of specimens examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 15.812.849.

"The positive result per number of specimens examined or positivity rate this week was 18.86 percent", he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspect cases, it is recorded at 75.168 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

Furthermore, there are currently 14.369.233 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 9.536.102 second dose vaccinations. Meanwhile, the total vaccination target of phase 1 and 2 reached 40.349.049 people.
