Alert! Traveling With COVID-19 Free Letter Does Not Mean That It Cannot Be Infected

JAKARTA - Professor of the Faculty of Health, University of Indonesia (UI), Soedjatmiko reminded, people who travel and have had a free letter of COVID-19 from negative test results does not mean that they cannot contract the virus on the go.

"Already genose test, already swab antigen, PCR, negative results, Considered not contagious to others and on the way will not be infected. This is not true," Sujatmiko said in a virtual discussion on Youtube Kemenkominfo TV, Thursday, May 20.

Despite the negative TEST results of COVID-19, if the traveler is swarming, they can still contract it to others. Because, the intent of the negative test result means that until the day of the test has not contracted coronavirus.

"It could be during the trip or the day you are positively infected from others. It's not that you're immune to COVID," he said.

Soedjatmiko understands that the seat distance of each traveler has been arranged with a limited capacity. In addition, all travelers also have a COVID-19 free letter.

However, he stressed the accuracy of COVID-19 tests only ranges from 80 to 95 percent. It could be people who have had negative results of COVID-19 but are actually positive.

"No test is 100 percent. That is, if there are 100 people who are negative, it is likely that 5 to 20 people are actually positive but have not or are not detected by the test, so it could be during the trip, 5-20 people can transmit to people around it," he concluded.
