TERNATE - The Ternate Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) managed to evacuate the fishing boat KM Putri 02, which experienced engine failure in the waters between Mare Island and Moti Island, North Maluku. A total of 14 crew members (ABK) were rescued in good health.
"For all 14 crew members, 14 people were rescued in good health," said Head of the Ternate Basarnas Office Iwan Ramdani when contacted, Antara, Wednesday, October 29.
He explained that the report regarding the incident was received on Monday night at 21.05 WIT.
After receiving the information, the Ternate SAR Office Rescue Team was immediately deployed using KN SAR 237 Pandudewanata to a location suspected of being in the waters of Mare Island.
"As soon as the report was received, we immediately dispatched the team to the location to ensure the condition of the ship and its entire crew," said Iwan.
The search was carried out intensively until 00.05 WIT, when the joint SAR team managed to find KM Putra Putri 02 around 25 nautical miles (Nm) from Ternate City. The results of the inspection at the location ensured that all crew members were safe.

After a few hours of travel, the ship was successfully evacuated and docked at the Nusantara Ternate Fisheries Port at 08.30 WIT, Wednesday morning. All crew members were handed over to port representatives for further data collection.
The SAR operation was then officially closed through a debriefing activity at the Ternate SAR Office. The elements involved include the Ternate Basarnas, North Maluku Polairud Polda, Pertamina Patra Niaga FT Ternate, Nusantara Ternate Fisheries Port, Pangliding Fish Vessel, and local fishermen.
Iwan Ramdani appreciated the quick coordination between agencies and the participation of fishing communities. He reminded all fishermen to ensure that the condition of the ship and engine is in a proper condition before going to sea.
"Security is the main thing, so it's important to always check the condition of the ship before sailing," he said.
