Former Sleman Regent 2010-2015 Suspect Of Corruption In Tourism Grant Fund Arrested

JAKARTA - The Sleman District Attorney (Kejari) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) has detained former Sleman Regent Sri Purnomo (SP) as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the 2020 Sleman Regency tourism grant.

"The SP suspect will be detained at the Yogyakarta Class II A Penitentiary for the next 20 days," said Head of Legal Information at the DIY High Prosecutor's Office, Herwatan, in his statement in Yogyakarta, Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

The detention of the Sleman Regent for the 2010-2015 period and the 2016-2021 period was carried out based on the Detention Order of the Head of the Sleman District Attorney Number: PRINT-XXX/M.4.11/Fd.1/10/2025 dated 28 October 2025.

Herwatan said that the detention of SP was based on sufficient evidence and the reasons as stipulated in Article 21 paragraph (1) and paragraph (4) letter a of the Criminal Procedure Code, namely the suspect's concern that he would run away, destroy or eliminate evidence, and or repeat the crime.

In addition, because the crime against SP is also punishable by imprisonment of five years or more as stipulated in the article.

Previously, the former Sleman SP Regent had been named a suspect in the alleged corruption case of irregularities in the management of tourism grants in Sleman Regency in 2020 through a warrant for the determination of the suspect dated September 30, 2025.

SP is suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 and/or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
