JAKARTA - The United States (US) Pacific Fleet said Monday 27 October that one helicopter and its military fighter jet crashed into the South China Sea on Sunday 26 October.
Quoting ABC News, Monday 27 October, the US Navy's MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter crashed yesterday at around 14:45 local time. The three crew members were rescued.
"Following the incident, separately, at 15:15, an F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter assigned to the 'Fighting Redcocks' from the Serang Combat Squadron (VFA) 22 also crashed in the waters of the South China Sea while carrying out routine operations from Nimitz," the US Pacific Fleet said in a statement.
The Navy said that the two crew of the F/A-18F fighter aircraft managed to eject and were also rescued.
"All personnel involved are safe and in stable condition. The cause of the two incidents is currently being investigated," the statement continued.
