Central Java Hands Over IDR 410 Million Aid For Semarang Residents Victims Of Floods

Central Java (Central Java) Governor Ahmad Luthfi confirmed that the assistance provided to flood-affected communities in the Genuk District, Semarang City, was right on target.

"Today we ensure that all OPD (regional apparatus organizations) of Central Java Province and Semarang City move together. We make sure all assistance from related agencies is right on target, that's important," he said, at the Genuk District Office, Semarang, Monday, which was confiscated by Antara.

The total aid handed over was IDR 410,453,526, consisting of food and non-food logistics assistance, including 2.5 tons of rice and medicines.

"Everything, whether basic necessities, medicines, food, or other donations, is right on target, so that our people can be more empowered," he said.

According to him, post-flood health services were also carried out jointly between the Central Java Provincial Government and the Semarang City Government which was alerted for 24 hours.

"There are also health posts, I want to check this," he said, accompanied by Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti.

In addition, Luthfi has also instructed all relevant agencies and stakeholders to continue to monitor and take quick steps.

"Activities carried out for handling, including making drains at flood locations, must be prepared carefully, considering the weather conditions are still uncertain," he said.

Head of Genuk Sub-district, Pranyoto, said that assistance such as basic necessities and other logistics, including medicines, was really needed by the post-flood community.

"Hopefully there will be no more flooding after this. The current condition is that there are no refugees in Genuk District," he said.

For information, a number of efforts have been made by the Central Java Provincial Government to overcome flooding in Semarang City, including the establishment of public kitchens, addition of water suction pumps, logistical assistance, and officers to regulate traffic.

Meanwhile, the residents of Genuksari Ririn expressed their gratitude for the assistance provided in the form of rice, basic necessities, and others, because it would be very helpful, especially since he had not been selling for a week.

"Thank you for the help. Unexpectedly, this was helped. The condition of the house is safe, only the front is full of water. This assistance helps because it can't sell for a week. All roads are flooded," he said.
