JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has accelerated the implementation of a clean energy transition program and propeople, as a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's Astacita regarding the transformation of clean and fair energy.
In its official statement, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said concrete steps were taken through the development of various environmentally friendly technologies, such as waste power plants (PLTSa), refined fuel technology (RDF), biogas, and biomass.
The program is not only aimed at reducing dependence on fossil energy, but also opens up new economic opportunities for the community, ranging from providing jobs to utilizing agricultural and livestock waste.
"All clean energy programs are prepared so that the benefits are directly felt by the community without adding to the cost burden," wrote ESDM.

One of the flagship projects is PLTSa which is able to turn waste into electricity and at the same time reduce piles at the final disposal site (TPA). Two PLTSa that are already operating in Surabaya and Solo have a total installed capacity of 36.47 megawatts (MW).
The government has also strengthened policies through Presidential Regulation Number 109 of 2025 as a refinement of Presidential Decree Number 35 of 2018. This regulation ensures that the electricity price of PLTSa remains affordable for the community through a subsidy mechanism.
In addition, the development of RDF technology continues to be expanded. RDF functions to turn nonorganic waste into a substitute for coal, which is now being widely utilized by the cement industry and power plants. This technology also helps extend the life of the TPA and reduce carbon emissions.
In rural areas, community-based biogas programs continue to be intensified. Farming and livestock waste is processed into fuel for household needs, helping to reduce energy costs while improving environmental quality. As of September 2025, the direct utilization of biogas has reached 71.5 million cubic meters.
Meanwhile, biomass is also the main focus in the national clean energy strategy. Farm, plantation, and forestry waste is processed into fuel such as wood pellets, which have high economic value and are environmentally friendly.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources emphasized that all energy transition programs are carried out with the principles of justice and partiality to the people. The government is committed to strengthening collaboration between the central, regional, industrial and community governments so that economic and environmental benefits run in a balanced manner.
"The government ensures that the direction of the energy transition policy remains prograde so that economic and environmental benefits go hand in hand," concluded the official statement of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
