JAKARTA - Dubai International Airport (DBX) is estimated to serve around 115 million passengers in 2031, before its operations move to Al Maktoum International Airport.
Dubai International Airport is currently on track to serve more than 100 million passengers per year by 2027.
The airport chief executive, Paul Griffiths, said DXB is expected to serve 95.3 million passengers by the end of 2026, followed by this achievement figure in the following year.
Griffiths made his comments after a press conference to promote Dubai Airshow next month, the WAM government news agency reported.
"By the end of 2031, the number of passengers is expected to be close to 115 million, and by 2032 operations will switch to Al Maktoum International Airport to accommodate around 124 million passengers," Griffiths said, quoted from The National 8 October.
In July, The National reported that DXB recorded record number of passengers in the first half of this year, despite geopolitical challenges that led to the closure of airspace and disrupted flight operations in the region.
DXB, the world's busiest international airport, serves 46 million people via 222,000 flights in six months to the end of June, an increase of 2.3 percent per year, according to Dubai Airports operators.
