Police-Owned Robbery Perpetrator Car, Perpetrator Still At Large

The Takalar Police officers secured the vehicle used by the robbers allegedly belonging to members of the National Police after the discovery of the identity of a police officer in the car after being attacked by a mob, in Moncongkomba Village, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi.

"This is still under investigation (the perpetrator's car of the robbery)," said Head of the Takalar Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Hatta, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 23.

The attempted robbery incident occurred on Monday (20/10) afternoon at the house of victim Sainal Daeng Gajang in Pattiro Hamlet, Moncongkomba Village, Polongbangkeng Selatan District, Takalar.

At that time, an unknown man was driving a yellow Toyota Agya with police number DD 1188 SSR stopped by and immediately entered the victim's house known as the local village priest.

After a while, the perpetrator took action to lock up the occupants who were in his house. Luckily, one of the residents managed to escape from the house and then shouted for help.

Hearing the victim's screams, local residents responded and gathered in front of the victim's house, but before being arrested by residents, the perpetrator fled leaving the car. Stimulated by emotions, residents damaged and turned the vehicle the perpetrator was carrying.

Due to this incident, the Takalar Police carried out security so that residents would not be violent. Although no valuables were lost, the victim had reported the incident to the police station, including the car had been confiscated as evidence.

"For the victim, he has made a police report on the alleged theft case, although no items are missing. The perpetrators are still at large," said Hatta.

Regarding the discovery of the identity card of the National Police member in the car, and raising public speculation that there was an alleged involvement of members of the National Police in this case, he said, was still being investigated but confirmed the identity findings.

"It is true, there is an identity of a police officer on behalf of the initials AKP SL. It is related to the Makassar Port Police," said Hatta.

In order to follow up on the findings, said Hatta, his party had coordinated with the party concerned, the owner of the car used by the perpetrator to carry out a robbery attempt at the victim's house. It was later discovered that AKP SL's car was borrowed by the perpetrator.

"So, this member of the National Police is indeed the owner of the car borrowed by the alleged perpetrator of the attempted theft. This case is still under investigation (monitored). The initials of the alleged perpetrator are IN," he explained.
