Regional Secretary Stumbled On Corruption, Singkawang City Government Opens Registration To Find Substitutes With Integrity

SINGKAWANG - The City Government (Pemkot) of Singkawang, West Kalimantan, through the Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) officially opened an open selection of Primary High Leadership Positions (JPT) for the position of Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Singkawang City.

Head of the Singkawang City BKPSDM, Sutiarno, said that this open selection provides opportunities for state civil servants (ASN) who meet the requirements to participate competitively and transparently.

"Registration is carried out online, so that it is open to all ASN who meet administrative requirements and competence in positions," he said in Singkawang, Antara, Thursday, October 23.

According to Sutiarno, selection participants are required to meet a number of criteria, including physical and spiritual health, free from narcotics abuse, having no legal problems, and having high integrity and loyalty to the Pancasila ideology.

"We want to ensure that this strategic position is filled by officials who have credibility, managerial abilities, and a good track record," he said.

This selection was held to fill the vacant position of the Regional Secretary previously held by Sumastro, who is currently undergoing a legal process at the Pontianak Corruption Court regarding allegations of irregularities in the provision of leniency in the retribution of business services for the use of land management rights (HPL) Pasir Panjang, Sedau Village, South Singkawang District.

To maintain the smooth running of government administration, the Mayor of Singkawang has appointed Dwi Putra Sumarna as Acting (Pj) Regional Secretary. This appointment is temporary until the definitive Regional Secretary is elected through an open selection mechanism.

Sutiarno appealed to JPT officials who meet the requirements not to hesitate to follow this selection process.

"We invite all officials who have qualifications and experience according to the provisions to register. This selection is not only looking for a replacement, but the best figure to strengthen governance in Singkawang," he said.

He added that this open selection is also a learning event for ASN to understand the mechanism for professional and open-open recruitment of high-ranking positions.

The selection stage includes the preparation of papers, competency assessments, and final interviews, and the final results will be submitted to the Mayor for the determination of elected candidates in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.

"We hope that the elected officials will be able to bring positive changes and strengthen bureaucratic reform in Singkawang City," said Sutiarno.
