Landslides In Purbalingga, Four Villages Affected And Access Roads Cut Off

PURBALINGGA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Purbalingga Regency, Central Java, handled landslides that occurred in three sub-districts, namely Karanganyar, Kaligondang, and Mrebet, due to heavy rains on Tuesday, October 21 afternoon.

"We have assessed, cleaned up landslide materials, and distributed logistical assistance in all affected locations. Heavy equipment was also deployed in Kaliori Village, Karanganyar District, to speed up the opening of access roads for residents," said the Head of BPBD Purbalingga Regency Prayitno, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 23.

He said the landslide occurred in Kaliori and Maribaya villages, Karanganyar sub-district, then Areann Village, Kaligondang District, and Tangkisan Village, Mrebet District.

Although there were no casualties in the incident, he said, a number of public facilities and houses were damaged.

In this case, a 12 meter high cliff with a width of 10 meters in Kaliori Village collapsed and closed the 50 meter long connecting road with a pile height of around 2-3 meters, thus disrupting the residents' economic path.

Meanwhile, in Maribaya Village, he continued, the avalanche material from a cliff as high as five meters with a width of two meters with a length of two meters resulted in moderate damage to the side of Khoerun's house (39), with an estimated loss of IDR 1.5 million.

Meanwhile, in Arenan Village, a landslide occurred from a cliff as high as 12 meters with a length of 10 meters and a width of five meters, but the avalanche material did not hit Sumarjo's house near the scene.

In addition, a 14x10 meter mobile wall on the back of the shop belonging to Suratno landslide and closing the footpath with an estimated loss value of up to IDR 5 million, as well as Samiarjo Al Samir's 8x 1.5 meter mobile foundation is threatened with collapse with an estimated loss value of IDR 1 million.

Furthermore, in Tangkisan Village, landslides occurred at four points with a total loss of more than IDR 28 million.

"The temporary total material losses due to landslides in the four areas reached around Rp35 million and are still in the further calculation stage," said Prayitno.

In order to speed up handling, he said, BPBD is collaborating with the TNI, Polri, PUPR, Damkar, PMI, Banser, Baznas, and village officials.

His party also distributed aid in the form of basic necessities, mattresses, and plastic sacks for emergency handling.

Regarding the handling of landslides in Kaliori Village, he said that main road access in the area can be passed by two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.

"Extreme weather still has the potential to occur in the next few days, so our people ask to remain careful, especially those living around cliffs and landslide-prone areas," said Prayitno.
