TARAKAN Member of Commission VII DPR Rahmawati encourages schools in North Kalimantan (Kaltara) to continue to provide creative space for students.

This was conveyed when he attended the inauguration of the library at SMA Negeri 4 Tarakan, Wednesday, October 22.

Rahmawati said that the existence of libraries is not only a place to read books, but also a place to develop students' talents and creativity. He assessed that space like this is important to shape the character of students who are productive, innovative, and keep them away from negative activities.

"Children need to have a place to channel their hobbies and creativity. That way, they don't have time to do negative things out there," said Rahmawati.

Rahmawati appreciated the school's steps to prepare supporting facilities, such as libraries and digital devices that support learning activities. According to him, modern facilities are an important entrance to building literacy culture and increasing the competitiveness of the younger generation in the digital era.

This library can be an arena for them to increase knowledge. There are already laptops and other means that can be used together. Hopefully this will be a good first step for school advancement," he added.

Rahmawati said the importance of collaboration between teachers, students, and parents is to foster a spirit of learning and encourage the emergence of young people who are creative and accomplished.

"I hope that similar activities can be carried out in a sustainable manner in various schools in Kaltara," he added.

Rahmawati emphasized her commitment to continue to support improving the quality of education and literacy in North Kalimantan. In addition, the presence of new facilities such as this library can strengthen the spirit of learning and become a growth space for students to innovate.

I want Kaltara children to grow into a generation that is smart, creative, and ready to compete. It can start from simple things such as loving to read and wanting to keep learning, he said.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SMA Negeri 4 Tarakan, Nurlina, expressed his appreciation for Rahmawati's visit and attention to the advancement of education in Tarakan.

"Thank you for the visit. His presence is a motivation for us to continue to improve and advance schools," said Nurlina.

Nurlina explained that her party will continue to develop programs that encourage the potential of students, both in the academic and non-akademic fields, with the support of the government and society.
