Elderly With Dimensia Lost In Riau Islands Anambas Forest, SAR Team Conducts Search

The joint SAR team is searching for an elderly citizen who was reported missing in the forest area of Anambas Islands Regency, Riau Islands Province (Kepri), since Monday, October 20 afternoon.

Head of the Natuna Search and Rescue Office (SAR) Abdul Rahman said the victim was identified as Abdul Rani (73), a farmer from Penebung Hamlet, Air Putih Village, East Siantan District. The victim is a person with dementia.

"The victim went to the garden on Monday afternoon, but until Tuesday it did not return as usual. The family had conducted an initial search, but the results were nil, so they reported to the SAR team," said Abdul Rahman in Natuna, Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

After receiving the report, he continued, the SAR team was dispatched to the location of the victim's garden to conduct a joint search.

The operation was carried out around coordinates 3°08'32.11"N, 106°18'17.67"E, which is the last point the victim is known to be at.

The elements involved in the search operation include the Anambas SAR Post, Lanal Tarempa, Polairud of the Anambas Police, and the Anambas Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

He said the conditions during the search for light rain with a humidity of 70 percent and a visibility of 10 kilometers.

Abdul Rahman hopes that the victim can be found safe so that he can gather with his family. He appealed to residents to report if they found the victim, or signs of the victim's whereabouts.

"The search is still ongoing today. The Natuna SAR Office continues to monitor the situation and provide updates on information to families and related agencies," said Abdul Rahman.
