MANOKWARI - West Papua Provincial Inspector, Erwin Priyadi Hamonangan Saragih, stated that seven state civil servants (ASN) within the West Papua Provincial Government will undergo a code of ethics trial for allegedly violating the discipline and ethics of their positions.

"They are not carrying out their duties properly because they did not enter the office for 28 days," said Erwin in Manokwari, Antara, Tuesday, October 21.

He explained that the code of ethics trial will be held by the Advisory Council for Treasury Claims and Compensation Claims (TPTGR) and the Code of Ethics Session Council which is scheduled to start in early November 2025.

This trial, said Erwin, was part of the local government's efforts to uphold the principles of governance that were clean and with integrity, as well as provide a deterrent effect to disciplinary violators.

"We recommend that the seven ASNs be fired, but the final results will certainly be decided in the code of ethics trial," he said.

In addition to the seven ASNs, there are two other ASNs who will undergo a TPTGR trial because they are suspected of being involved in abuse of authority that causes state financial losses based on the findings of an audit by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) in 2024.

"The findings of the BPK that have not been returned are approximately Rp. 4.5 billion from the total findings of Rp.33.619 billion. After the TPTGR, we recommend a code of ethics trial," Erwin explained.

He emphasized that the West Papua Inspectorate is committed to strengthening supervision of regional financial management to make it more transparent, accountable, and efficient.

"The inspectorate does not only function to check, but ensures that development policies and programs run according to the rules so that budget leaks do not occur," said Erwin.

Erwin also reminded all leaders of regional apparatus organizations (OPD) to uphold ASN discipline and carry out clean governance in order to maintain public trust in the bureaucracy.
