JAKARTA - Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq has designated more than 260 districts/cities in a state of waste emergency to accelerate their handling, including using environmentally friendly technology.
"The minister has set nearly 260 regencies/cities in a waste emergency status. This ensures all efforts to be handled," said Minister of Environment, reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 20.
The status of the waste emergency is in accordance with the context of Presidential Regulation Number 109 of 2025 concerning the Handling of Urban Waste Into Renewable Energy Based on Environmentally Friendly Technology, with the determination made by the minister.
By determining the emergency of waste, it will make it easier for all incoming financing instruments to utilize technology in order to reduce and manage waste, including the potential use of Waste Processing into Electricity (PSEL) or private to energy.
"So the private to energy uses Danantara funds which are quite large. So there must be an emergency that covers it, so what we have set as a waste emergency allows for handling all lines," he said.
Previously, Minister Hanif had submitted reports of seven recommended locations for PSEL to the CEO of the Danantara Investment Management Agency Rosan Perkasa Roeslani after conducting field verification.
