West Sulawesi Formulate The Concept Of Halal Tourism Development To Encourage Tourist Visits

MAMUJU - The West Sulawesi (Sulbar) Provincial Tourism Office is formulating the concept of halal tourism development as an effort to increase the diversity of tourism options and attract more tourists with diverse backgrounds.

"Tourism development through halal tourism promotion is an alternative to encourage an increase in visits to this area," said Head of the West Sulawesi Tourism Office, Bau Akram Dai, in Mamuju, Antara, Sunday, October 19.

According to Bau Akram, the concept has been discussed in an assistance meeting to discuss economic growth, inflation, sharia economy, and plans for the action of a nutrition food area based on local resource potential (BPSDL) in 2026-2030 carried out by Bapperida Sulbar.

He said the results of the meeting would be the main focus of the West Sulawesi Tourism Office in preparing a tourism development program in the future.

The discussion of the results of the meeting is certainly important for the development of West Sulawesi tourism. We also concentrate on monitoring and evaluation in order to strengthen the synergy and integration of program implementation to achieve regional economic development targets," he said.

This step is also in line with the Panca Daya of the Governor and Deputy Governor of West Sulawesi which emphasizes the importance of inclusive and sustainable economic growth in various sectors.

Bau Akram added that the halal tourism program will involve many parties, including business actors and local communities.

"Our focus is of course how West Sulawesi tourism can develop, including the development of halal food businesses, tourism services, and friendly lodging for all tourists," he explained.

He emphasized that the development of halal tourism will still pay attention to the values of local culture and religion, as well as maintain the harmony of society.

Meanwhile, the Young Expert Plan for the West Sulawesi Tourism Office, Asmadi, said that the meeting also resulted in several recommendation points, including promotion of halal tourism in the leading destination listed in the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) of West Sulawesi.

"Promotion and socialization of halal tourism to business actors in leading tourist attractions in West Sulawesi is one of the main points of recommendation," said Asmadi.

He explained that there were three important formulas from the results of the meeting, namely:

Support for the sharia economic development program, which is equipped with targets and locations for activities.

Strengthening branding, coaching, and socialization of halal tourism to business actors in leading destinations.

Increasing people's economic growth through various promotional activities such as Gema Sulbar, Manakarra Fair, Sandeq Silamba, as well as making tourism promotional videos.
