KPK Stops Corruption Investigation Of Sumber Waras Hospital Since 2023, Evidence Of Insufficient State Losses

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it had stopped the investigation into the alleged corruption in the procurement of the Sumber Waras Hospital (RS) by the Jakarta Provincial Government worth Rp800 billion. The termination of the case, which had been investigated since 2016, was decided in 2023 because there was not enough evidence to be found to be carried to the investigation stage.

This assurance was conveyed by the Director of Coordination and Supervision of Region II KPK, Bahtiar Ujang Purnama, after the Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung held an audience at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, October 16, 2025.

"That it was true that in 2014 the procurement was carried out by the KPK's investigation steps. However, after an analysis was carried out with various kinds of evidence or other evidence, the KPK decided that the available evidence was not sufficient for investigation steps," said Bahtiar.

"So that in the realm of investigation, the KPK in 2023 has stopped investigating the case," he continued.

Jakarta Provincial Government Given Green Light Asset Recovery

With the termination of the investigation, the KPK has invited the Jakarta Provincial Government to make efforts to recover assets (asset recovery) on land that has stalled since 2014.

"What will be used as a hospital will be type A," said Bahtiar.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung welcomed the decision and emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Government wants the land of the Sumber Waras Hospital to be reused immediately.

"So that it can provide the widest possible benefits for the community," said the former Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) of President Jokowi's era.

For information, this case began in 2014 when the Jakarta Provincial Government purchased land for the Sumber Waras Health Foundation worth Rp800 billion from the Revised APBD. In 2015, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) found indications of state losses of around Rp191 billion and submitted the findings of the audit to the KPK in 2016. A number of parties, including the Governor of Jakarta at that time, Basuki Tjahja Purnama (Ahok), were summoned for questioning.
