JAKARTA - Russia hopes that all agreements in the Gaza Strip reached at the summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt will be implemented, while US President Donald Trump and regional leaders ensure an immediate ceasefire, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a meeting with journalists from Arab countries on Monday.

United States President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani signed a declaration on Monday aimed at strengthening the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, hours after Israel and Hamas exchanged hostages and detainees.

"We sincerely wish the success of today's event, a high-level meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh which was attended, to my knowledge, by more than 20 countries, both from the Arab world and several Western countries," Foreign Minister Lavrov explained, launching TASS October 14.

"I hope all deals will be fulfilled, although we have heard statements from Hamas and Tel Aviv that nothing has ended and the crisis can continue," he added.

"I believe it is very important for those who initiated this forum, especially President Trump, with the support of the Egyptian President, Qatari and Turkish leaders, to prevent such developments and focus primarily on the need for an immediate ceasefire and compliance with agreed policy directions for the withdrawal of Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip, adjustment of humanitarian aid, and, of course, restoration of important places on Earth that may suffer more than any other region around the world during postwar years," he explained.

The signing of the "Sharm El Sheikh Summit For Peace: Agreement To End The War In Gaza" which was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt was attended by a number of world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, King of Jordan Abdullah II, to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

There are also British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Canadian PM Mark Carney, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit and European Council President Antonio Costa.

Foreign Minister Lavrov stressed, "long-term settlement of this situation is only possible if the UN's decision on the formation of a Palestinian state is met."

The peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh was held after an official ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. Representatives of Hamas and Israel were not present at yesterday's meeting.

Foreign Minister Lavrov added that Russia would seek to facilitate the implementation of the agreement in President Trump's Gaza peace plan.

According to the top Russian diplomat, all parties need to focus on implementing the agreement.

"And we will facilitate this by all means possible," he said.

The White House on September 29 launched a "comprehensive plan" of the US President to resolve the Gaza conflict, which consists of 20 points. The proposal includes temporary external administration for the enclave and deployment of international stabilization troops.
