Police Predict Peak Backflow To Happen This Weekend

JAKARTA - The police predict that the peak of the backflow will occur this weekend. During two days of blocking the backflow, it was recorded that tens of thousands of vehicles entered Jakarta.

"We predict this (reverse flow) will peak on May 21 or 22," said Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Yusri Yunus, to reporters, Tuesday, May 18.

From the implementation of the backflow blocking scheme from 16 and 17 May, it was recorded that 5,237 entered Jakarta. Thousands of vehicles, namely private and public vehicles.

In addition, to prevent transmission of COVID-19 after the Eid homecoming, around 15,024 people were subjected to antigen swabs. The travelers were tested for COVID-19 at 14 insulating post points to door-to-door to the homes of recorded travelers.

As a result, 84 people tested positive for COVID-19. They were asked to do self-isolation.

"The number of non-reactive ones is around 14,940 people," said Yusri.

Previously, the Head of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Inspector General Fadil Imran, gave an ultimatum for travelers who wanted to return to Jakarta to bring a COVID-19-free certificate. If not, the travelers will be required to undergo isolation.

Fadil said that if the travelers can escape the blocking posts, they will not be able to pass at the community or RT / RW level.

The reason is that many people have agreed to refuse the presence of travelers who do not have a COVID-19 free document.

"If you pass at this point of isolation, you will not pass on a community basis," he stressed.
