Stuck In Room, ODGJ In Tambora Burns To Death In House

JAKARTA - One Person with Mental Disorder (ODGJ) with the initials AS (41) died in a house fire on Jalan Pengeran Tubagus Angke, Angke Village, Tambora District, West Jakarta, Friday, October 10.

"This victim (the man) was not saved. He was locked in the room, trapped and unable to get out. When found he was dead," said Head of the Operations Section of the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept., Syarifudin, ANTARA, Friday, October 10.

Syarif said there were five houses that were burned down in the incident.

"So there are five houses, 11 residents. One person died and there were a few abrasions," said Syarif.

Until now, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation by police officers. "Still under investigation," he said.

The West Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. deployed 21 fire engines with 105 personnel to deal with the fire.

"The initial information on the fire was at 09.30 WIB and now the blackout process has been completed," he said.

According to ANTARA's observation at the location at 15.00 WIB, four of the five houses that were burned were razed to the ground, while one other house was severely affected.
