Measuring Roads In Intan Jaya Papua, Workers Shot Dead By KKB

JAKARTA - The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) shot dead a road worker in Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua on Wednesday, October 8 morning.

Head of Peace Operations of the Cartenz Task Force Brigadier General Pol. Faizal Ramadhani said the victim was identified as Anselmus Arfin (25), an employee of PT TJP. At the time of the incident, the victim was making road measurements in Ndugusiga Village.

"The shooting took place at around 10:20 WIT. At that time the victim and four of his colleagues were using a tractor to measure the road in the border area of Ndugusiga Village and Bambu Kuning. Suddenly, one gunshot eruption was heard from the left side of the road, which hit the victim's left chest until it penetrated the back," said Brigadier General Faizal in a written statement, confiscated by Antara.

Seeing his colleague being shot, Muhammad Rasyid and other employees immediately evacuated the victim to Sugapa Hospital. However, the victim's life could not be saved and was declared dead from the gunshot wound he suffered.

Personnel from the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force led by the Gakkum Task Force AKP Ojan Prabowo immediately pursued with TNI soldiers. Some are monitoring the Sugapa Hospital and coordinating with the company.

Based on the results of initial monitoring, the shooting was allegedly carried out by the KKB group led by Daniel Aibon Kogoya, who often operates and throws tantrums in the Intan Jaya area.

Brigadier General Faizal strongly condemned the brutal act and emphasized that the KKB's actions had hampered the infrastructure development process in Papua, including strategic projects such as roads.

"The armed crime carried out by the KKB not only claimed the lives of civilians who worked to build their regions, but also hampered the process of accelerating development in Papua. The state will not back down in ensuring the security and sustainability of development in this area," said Brigadier General Faizal.

Deputy Head of Peace Operations for the Cartenz Task Force, Kombes Pol. Adarma Sinaga said his party had increased security around the scene and taken law enforcement steps against the perpetrators.

"We have placed personnel at a number of vulnerable points and strengthened patrols so that similar incidents do not happen again. The team is also conducting an investigation to reveal the identity of the group of perpetrators and the network involved," said Kombes Adarma Sinaga.
