Basarnas Tightens Coordination Of The Use Of Santri Equipment Al Khoziny

The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has tightened coordination on the use of heavy equipment in the search for victims of the collapse of the Al-Khoziny Islamic Boarding School-grade building in Buduran, Sidoarjo, East Java, to ensure the safety of personnel and effectiveness of evacuation.

Basarnas Operations Director Yudhi Bramantyo said the experience the day before showed the need for more detailed arrangements between heavy equipment operators and rescue teams.

"We have coordinated with the Dandim as the person in charge of heavy equipment so that its use is more appropriate. There are several points that heavy equipment should not be worked on, but are carried out manually by our personnel," Yudhi said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, October 4.

According to him, the condition of the field shows that there is a location where the concrete debris must be cut off first, the structure before the rescue team goes directly to evacuate the victims.

Data from Basarnas noted that on Friday (3/10), the joint SAR team managed to evacuate nine bodies with a combination of manual methods and heavy equipment support. However, the process at several points took longer because the victim's position was difficult to reach.

"We divide the team into three sectors to make the search faster. But still in principle, the safety of number one personnel," he said.

Tighter coordination is expected to accelerate the search process today, which is the sixth day after the collapse of the Al-Khoziny Islamic Boarding School-graded building, Buduran Sidoarjo, as well as reduce the risk of work in the field.
