SAR Team Tempuh 30 Mil Laut Searches For Missing Fishermen In Wakatobi Waters

The SAR team was deployed to search for a fisherman who went missing while fishing in the waters of Karang Kaledupa, Kaledupa District, Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra).

Head of Basarnas Kendari Amiruddin said the missing fisherman was named Hadith (56) who was a resident of Mantigola Village, Kaledupa District, Wakatobi.

"The victim was first reported missing by the Mantigola Village Head at 13:35 WITA," Amiruddin said when contacted in Kendari, Friday, in Antara.

Based on the report, his party then dispatched the Wakatobi SAR Post Rescue Team to the scene to provide search and rescue assistance.

"With the distance from the location from the Wakatobi SAR Post, it is about 30 nautical miles," he said.

Amiruddin revealed that in the search there were several elements involved, including the Kendari Basarnas Ops Staff, Wakatobi SAR Post, local fishermen, and the victim's family.

"With the main tools used, namely personnel trucks, rubber boats, medical SAR equipment, evacuation SAR equipment, communication equipment, and other safety support equipment," said Amiruddin.

He explained that the disappearance of the victim began when he went to sea by boat on Monday (September 22) at around 04.00 WITA. With the habit of the victim returning from fishing about five days later.

However, on Friday (September 26) at around 09.00 WITA, the victim's boat was found in a condition where the victim was no longer on it.

"The search has been carried out by the family and fishermen around with zero results, until this information is received," said Amiruddin.
