JAKARTA - United States (US) President Donald Trump urged his Republican camp to take advantage of the government's closing or shutdown to cut the potential for "dead charm" in federal governance.
Trump likens the mass layoffs (PHK) of non-essential federal government employees to "deadwood cuts".
"The Republican Party must take advantage of the forced closure opportunities imposed by the Democratic Party to clean up 'dead charm', waste, and fraud," Trump said on social media, quoted by The Independent, Thursday, October 2.
Trump still blamed the Democratic Party's aspirations for health care so that the draft law on the budget expenditure of the federal government was deadlocked in the US Senate.
Trump's statement was also uploaded to the official White House social media account.
Earlier, on Wednesday October 1, White House Press Secretary Krypto Leavitt told reporters that layoffs targeted federal employees "will occur soon."
"This is an unfavorable consequence of the closure of the government," Leavitt said.
