JAKARTA - KAI Commuter will resume operating the KRL Commuter Line service until 22.00 WIB starting Tuesday, May 18. Previously, during the eid mudik ban period, krl operated until 20.00 WIB.
"This policy is in line with the end of operational restrictions during the Eid al-Fitr ban period on May 6 to 17, 2021," KAI Commuter VP Corporate Secretary Anne Purba said in a statement, Monday, May 17.
With the end of the homecoming ban period, the KRL also returned to serve stations located in the Lebak regency, namely Maja, Citeras, and Rangkasbitung Stations.
After re-operating until 22.00 WIB starting tomorrow, said Anne, the number of KRL trips becomes 984 trips every day.
"With the normalization of the frequency of travel and operating hours, KAI Commuter hopes that users can plan their journeys well to avoid potential overcrowding at the station and inside the train, and not force themselves to board the full train," he explained.
Anne explained that Jabodetabek Krl has served 3,778,964 users during the homecoming period or an average of 314,914 users per day.
The highest user volume was recorded on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 412,545 people. Meanwhile, the lowest user volume was recorded on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 or one day before Eid al-Fitr, numbering 212,373 people.
During the Eid al-Fitr holiday, KAI Commuter was reprimanded by The Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi for piling up passengers at the station. Therefore, KAI adds to the train itinerary.
"KAI Commuter operates a number of additional KRL trips starting May 14, 2021 in anticipation of the density of users during the Eid holidays. As a result, even though it only operates until 20:00 WIB, KAI Commuter still runs up to 900 KRL trips per day," explained Anne.
