Arrested By Police, 2 Perpetrators Departing 16 Illegal CPMIs To The Middle East Claim To Receive IDR 1-2 Million Per Person

TANGERANG - The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) again thwarted efforts to depart 16 non-procedural Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) for the Middle East.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police, Kompol Yandri Mono, said that his party had also named two suspects with the initials E and H in the case.

"The motive for the suspects to smuggle illegal CPMIs is to seek profit from each departure, with a range of Rp. 1 million to Rp. 2 million per person," said Yandri in Tangerang, Antara, Wednesday, October 1.

Investigators are also investigating the alleged involvement of a foreign citizen (WNA) who is suspected of being a funder in the practice of sending these illegal migrant workers.

"We are still exploring, including the role of foreigners involved," he said.

CPMIs are known to use tourist visas as a mode of departure disguise. From the results of the investigation, this shipment was revealed when officers received information about the departure of eight CPMIs to Saudi Arabia on September 1, 2025 at 11.00 WIB.

They are scheduled to transit in Kuala Lumpur, then continue their journey to Bengaluru (India), before heading to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

The officers then secured the eight CPMIs at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Departure and took them to the Resort Police for further investigation.

Furthermore, on the evening of September 3, 2025, Unit V Resmob Satreskrim Soetta Airport Police arrested the perpetrators in the Cipayung area, East Jakarta, along with evidence.

Yandri added, from January to September 2025, the Soetta Airport Police Satreskrim had thwarted the departure of 645 illegal CPMIs with the most destinations to Cambodia, Malaysia, and a number of countries in the Middle East.

"This action is a form of the police's commitment to protecting Indonesian citizens from human trafficking and the risk of exploitation of labor abroad," he said.
