JAKARTA - The National Police's International Relations Division (Divhubinter) has succeeded in repatriating AAG, a suspect in the case of collecting public funds without permission, from Doha, Qatar to Indonesia.

The suspect AAG is a former Director of PT Investri Radikajaya who has been designated as an international fugitive through the Interpol Red Notice since November 2024.

"The National Police is committed that there is no safe place for international criminals. Whether they are hiding domestically or those who run abroad, we will definitely pursue and return them," said the Head of the National Police's Divhubinter, Inspector General Amur Chandra Juli Buana, quoted on Saturday, September 27.

The suspect AAG was reported to have fled to Qatar after being deemed uncooperative in the investigation process by the OJK.

According to Amur, the AAG repatriation process is not easy because the suspect has permanent status in Qatar. The inter-governmental extradition route (G to G) was considered, but the process was considered to have taken too long.

The turning point occurred during the Interpol Asia Regional Conference in Singapore. In a bilateral meeting with the Qatari authorities, the Indonesian delegation led by NCB Interpol Secretary managed to gain support to secure and repatriate the suspect.

"Thanks to the P-to-P (police to police) approach, through the NCB to NCB mechanism, we finally managed to repatriate the suspect. This is strong evidence that solid international cooperation can overcome cross-border legal barriers," he said

Now, AAG is in OJK detention and has been deposited in the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police for further legal proceedings. He is suspected of having illegally collected public funds through a number of companies, with significant potential community losses.

The Deputy Commissioner for Law and Investigation of the OJK, Yuliana, also expressed his appreciation to all parties involved, including the Police, for this success.

"This cross-institutional collaboration is a tangible form of synergy in law enforcement and community protection in the financial services sector," said Yuliana.

Apart from AAG, the National Police said there are still a number of other targets on the wanted list of similar cases. Inspector General Amur emphasized that the pursuit will continue.

"This is also a warning to transnational criminals. Wherever they escape, the Police will pursue and bring them back to Indonesia to account for their actions," said Yuliana.
