Sudirman-Gatsu Severe Traffic Jam, Pramono Asks For Semanggi Toll Gate Repairs To Be Carried Out At Night

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo asked related parties to make repairs at the Semanggi 1 and Semanggi 2 toll gates to be carried out on weekends or outside of peak hours.

"So earlier I asked the Department of Transportation to coordinate, not to do it again when the hours of many people being transported, going home from work. Yesterday, I came home from work. If you want to do it, it's a holiday," said Pramono in Jakarta, Thursday, September 25.

Pramono stated that the traffic jam that occurred on Wednesday, September 24 in Semanggi was due to repairs at the Semanggi 1 and Semanggi 2 toll gates.

The repair was carried out after being damaged by a demonstration some time ago.

"So in Semanggi, yesterday's traffic jam was caused by the doors of Semanggi 1 and 2 which were repaired due to the excesses from yesterday's demonstrations that experienced fires and so on. And that was done simultaneously," said Pramono.

For this reason, Pramono has also asked Jasa Marga to take responsibility for the occurrence of such severe congestion.

"In particular, we will ask Jasa Marga who is responsible for that. Don't let this happen again," said Pramono.

The closure of several Inner City Toll Gates last night caused the flow of vehicles to stall badly on a number of major roads in Jakarta, including Sudirman and Gatot Subroto.

This condition had drawn complaints from road users because the traffic jam lasted for hours and late at night.

Following up on this, Jasa Marga reopened several toll gates this morning. There were five toll gates that were originally scheduled to be closed for repairs, now they are partially reopened.

Meanwhile, the 5 toll gates that operate again are as follows:

1. GT Senayan, partial operating with 2 lanes can be crossed2. GT Semanggi 1, partial operating with 1 lane can be crossed 3. GT Slipi 1, fully operational4. GT Semanggi 2 operates partially with 1 lane can be crossed 5. GT Kuningan 1 operates partially.
