21 Years Of Illegal Parking At Bona Indah Plaza, DKI DPRD: Potential Loss Of IDR 37.8 Billion

JAKARTA The Special Committee (Pansus) for Parking of the DKI Jakarta DPRD conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) of the findings of illegal parking practices on land owned by the DKI Provincial Government. The location is in the Bona Indah Plaza area, Jalan Karang Tengah Raya, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

Based on the results of the inspection, the Chairperson of the Parking Special Committee for the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ahmad Lukman Jupiter, revealed that the parking area on the 4,300 square meter area has been controlled by irresponsible parties.

Jupiter revealed that the assets of the DKI Provincial Government have been used as illegal parking bags for more than two decades without carrying out the obligation to deposit taxes to the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda).

"Here he said the association. They took money (parking) from the community by using a ticket. However, this ticket, when we checked, there was never any payment to Bapenda," Jupiter told reporters, Thursday, September 25.

Jupiter then calculated the lost regional income from illegal parking. According to him, the estimated parking turnover is around Rp. 50 million per day or Rp. 1.5 billion per month. If the parking management is licensed, according to Jupiter, DKI should receive an income of Rp. 150 million per month.

"Imagine, it has been managed for 21 years without official permission and without paying taxes. Our rough calculation is that the potential loss of regional income reaches IDR 37.8 billion. That is clear tax evasion," he said.

According to Jupiter, the practice of illegal parking in this shopping area can operate for decades due to the omission by the DKI Provincial Government. In addition to tax leaks, existence also causes public unrest and has the potential to cause other illegal levies (extortion).

If the provincial government's land is controlled without an official contract, without rent, it is prone to permanent grabs. We are worried that there will be involvement of individuals from within. Therefore, we encourage the Governor to dare to evaluate and replace negligent officials," said Jupiter.

Jupiter urges the DKI Provincial Government to immediately take action against the existence of illegal parking with legal steps so that leakage of regional income can be suppressed.

"We ask the Mayor and his staff to immediately make a police report. This is not just an administrative violation, but a criminal act for embezzling taxes from public money," he added.
