Macron Asks Trump To Stop War In Gaza If Nobel Peace Prize

French President Emmanuel Macron said US President Donald Trump should stop the war in Gaza if he really wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Speaking to French TV BFM from New York, Macron said only Trump had the power to pressure Israel to end the war.

"There is only one person who can do something, namely the US President," Macron said.

"And the reason he can do more than us is because we don't supply weapons that allow the war in Gaza to be launched. We don't supply equipment that allows the war to be launched in Gaza. The United States does it," he continued.

Trump delivered an aggressive and broad address before the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday rejecting Western ally's steps to support the Palestinian state, saying it would be a gift to Hamas militants.

"We must immediately stop the war in Gaza. We must immediately negotiate peace," Trump said.

"I see an American president involved, who reiterated this morning from the podium: 'I want peace. I have resolved seven conflicts', who want the Nobel Peace Prize. Nobel Peace Prize is only possible if you stop this conflict," Macron said in response to Trump's speech.

Countries such as Cambodia, Israel, and Pakistan are among the countries that have nominated Trump for the annual award for brokering peace pacts or ceasefires.

Trump said he deserved the award Norway gave to four of its predecessors at the White House.

"President Trump has done more for peace than a combination of everyone present at the United Nations," said White House spokesman Anna Kelly.

"Only this president can achieve so much for global stability as he has effectively "Create America Strong Again," he continued.
