River Tutur Bridge Broken By River Water, Lumajang Residents Move Fast To Make Emergency Access

LUMAJANG Residents from a number of villages worked together to build an emergency bridge connecting two sub-districts in Kandang Tepus Village, Lumajang Regency, East Java, after the Kali Tutur Bridge was cut off by heavy river currents.

The breaking of the bridge connecting Senduro District with Gucialit encourages the spirit of togetherness of the residents. Without waiting for help, people from several villages unite to build emergency bridges from bamboo to ensure access remains open for daily activities and vital needs," said the Head of Kandang Tepus Village, Suryadi, in Lumajang, Antara, Sunday, September 21.

According to Suryadi, the participation of residents is very high. Hundreds of people work together, even at night the bridge is still given lighting so that residents can pass safely.

The emergency bridge ensures that children can still go to school, farmers' crops are distributed, and residents have access to health facilities and places of worship.

"More than that, the bridge is a tangible manifestation of caring, responsibility, and the spirit of community togetherness which shows how social values become the main force to face challenges," he said.

The Regent of Lumajang Indah Amperawati who visited the location gave his appreciation for the residents' initiative. According to him, the mutual cooperation shows the resilience, solidarity, and concern of the community as the foundation for village development.

These values are invaluable and become strong social capital for the progress of the community. This incident confirms that sincere solidarity and cooperation are able to maintain the smooth life of the village and strengthen inter-citizen relations," said Indah.

Suryadi added that the emergency bridge was immediately strengthened so that two-wheeled vehicles could pass safely. Meanwhile, the construction of a permanent bridge is being prepared with a budget allocation through a special mechanism.

Sebelumnya, jembatan yang berada di perbatasan Desa Kandangan dan Kandang Tepus, Kecamatan Senduro, terputus akibat hujan deras yang mengguyur kawasan setempat pada Jumat (19/9). Akibatnya, warga harus memutar sejauh 15 kilometer.

Previously, the bridge on the border of Kandangan Village and Kandang Tepus, Senduro District, was cut off due to heavy rains that flushed the local area on Friday (19/9). As a result, residents had to turn 15 kilometers.
