Police Deploy K9 Searches For Flash Flood Victims In Nagakeo

The National Police deployed a K9 team from the K9 Detachment, Sub-Directorate of the Ditpolsatwa Korsabhara Baharkam, in the process of searching for victims of natural disasters in the Nagakeo area, East Nusa Tenggara.

Until now, three people have not been found due to flash floods that occurred last week.

"The presence of the K9 Team at the disaster site is expected to speed up the process of searching for victims and provide moral support for affected families," said Auditor Madya Sispamobvitnas Baharkam Polri Kombes Edy Sumardi in his statement, Thursday, September 18.

The K9 team that was deployed consisted of six personnel, namely the head of the team, two K9 handlers, two handler protectors, and one K9 paramedic.

Then, two sniffer dogs were also seconded, namely K9 Felicia and K9 Karer, which specialize in cadver detection.

Currently, search efforts are still ongoing intensively. For the time being, sniffer dogs have not found a point where the smell is leading to the victim's whereabouts.

"The SAR operation will continue in waves to maximize the search and provide hope for the victims and their affected families," said Edy.

Previously, the Head of the NTT Regional Police, Inspector General Pol Rudi Darmoko, said that his party had also deployed 100 personnel to search for victims who had lost independently.

This was done after the SAR team closed the SAR operation on Monday, September 15 because the search period had entered its seventh day.
