AMBON - The Maluku Regional Police (Polda) have named six new suspects in the case of vandalism and burning residents' houses in Hunuth Village, Baguala District, Ambon City.

The determination of the suspects was carried out through the investigation team of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Maluku Police on Monday, September 15, 2025.

"After going through a case title conducted last Monday, the investigative team again named six suspects in the case of vandalism and burning residents' houses in Hunuth," said Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes Rositah Umasugi, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 17.

With the addition of the six suspects, a total of eight people have been named in this case.

The two previous suspects, each with the initials IS and AP. AP has been detained at the Maluku Police Detention Center on suspicion of Article 170 Paragraph (1) and (2) of the Criminal Code and/or Article 406 of the Criminal Code, while IS is is subject to mandatory reporting because he is still a minor.

"For the suspect IS, the diversion is planned to be carried out on September 18, 2025, which is located at the Maluku Regional Police. As for the suspect AP, stage one has been carried out to the Maluku Prosecutor's Office," explained Rositah.

Six new suspects are scheduled to undergo examination on Friday, September 19, 2025. The summons has been sent by investigators.

The Maluku Regional Police hopes that the suspects will cooperate.

"We hope that the suspects can cooperate, and can fulfill the summons to be examined as suspects later," he said.

Previously, the conflict that occurred on Tuesday (19/8/2025) began with a fight between students of SMK Negeri 3 Waiheru, Ambon City. One of the students from Hitu Country, AP, died after being stabbed by an unknown person (OTK).
