NAGAKEO - The East Nusa Tenggara Police Medical and Health Division (Biddokkes) team opened a free health service post for people affected by flash floods in Nagekeo Regency.

Head of Biddokkes Polda NTT AKBP Hery Purwanto said that since morning dozens of residents had visited the emergency post to get health checks and medicines.

"Since it was opened, the health post has served around 60 residents, both the families of the victims and the surrounding community," said Hery in Nagekeo, Antara, Wednesday, September 17.

In addition to providing health services, officers also carry out simple socialization so that residents maintain a healthy diet, get enough rest, and be aware of post-flood diseases.

Hery added that health services to victims of flash floods were carried out as part of the National Police's efforts to move quickly to ensure that residents' health conditions were maintained in the midst of difficult post-disaster situations. Services are focused on residents who experience health problems due to post-flood environmental conditions, such as fever, diarrhea, and skin infection.

"The presence of the National Police's medical team is clear evidence of the Police's commitment to prioritizing public safety and health in emergency situations," he said.

Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Pol Henry Novika Chandra, emphasized that the quick move was a tangible manifestation of the concern of the Police.

"The National Police is here not only to maintain security, but also to provide humanitarian services in the midst of disasters, one of which is through health services," said Henry.

In addition to health services, the NTT Police also distributed humanitarian assistance to victims of natural disasters. As of Wednesday, the National Police was still searching for the three people who were reported missing. To speed up the search, the NTT Police, assisted by the National Police Headquarters, deployed a number of sniffer dogs.

“Kami ingin memastikan masyarakat Nagekeo tidak merasa sendiri menghadapi musibah ini,” ujar Henry.
